About the role 

We are seeking an experienced Head of People to join our executive team who is an eager, business-minded professional to help us define the future success of Rodeo and lead our People function. 

The Head of People is a pivotal leadership position that combines strategic thinking with hands-on, transactional responsibilities to drive the overall success of the HR function within the organization. This role requires a dynamic professional who can seamlessly balance long-term vision and planning with day-to-day operational excellence, ensuring that the human resources initiatives align with and contribute to the organization's strategic goals.

Reporting to the CEO (eventually the Chief of Staff), the head of people works in partnership with other leaders at the organization to develop strategies and tools to attract and recruit talented individuals who will play critical roles across the company, grow and retain existing talent to increase organizational success and ensure all employees have the resources they need to be successful.

Please note: This is a Hybrid role, which means you will be required to be in the office at least 3 days a week.

What you will do

  • Serve as a member of the leadership team, contribute to the company vision and strategy, and act as the senior advisor on key topics that will directly affect and shape people and culture.

  • Develop and implement talent strategies that touch all aspects of the employee lifecycle to drive performance, development, engagement, and retention—this includes onboarding and offboarding.

  • Crafting and spearheading company-wide performance management, feedback, and review processes, including guiding and training our people and managers in using them including coaching and counseling managers and employees.

  • Act as HR Business Partner for any employee relation issues and mediate where needed.

  • Own the talent acquisition process from end to end, designing a scalable recruitment process that reflects quality, diversity, and an exceptional candidate experience.

  • Design and implement job leveling to form the basis for fair and equitable compensation practices.

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices.

  • Maintain employee records including managing employee leave requests, handling HR inquiries, and administering benefits.

  • Creating policies, guides, and/or philosophies to document practices in a way that aligns with internal culture.

  • Provide regular reports and updates to the CEO on talent acquisition, retention, employee surveys, and strategic initiatives.

What you should have

  • 10+ years of progressive relevant experience, including prior management experience.

  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills.

  • Experience building best practice HR/People programs and initiatives in a hands-on, highly collaborative environment.

  • Strong business, analytics, and HR acumen, including strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Demonstrated success in leading, inspiring, coaching, and building world-class teams.

  • Ability to partner with all levels of the organization and work through others to drive impact and achieve results.

  • Prior experience cultivating a diverse, equitable and inclusive work environment and building practices and processes that sustain and enable that culture.

  • Knowledge of Employment laws and regulations, especially in the Netherlands and United States.
